Forest

In my “Forest” series each photograph delves into the patterns exhibited by plants found within the forest biome. Fractal geometry or self-similarity can be seen throughout the forest where the large mirrors the small. As fern fiddleheads unfurl, they show smaller versions of the whole. Stately tree trunks branch into the delicate venation seen in leaves as well as the vast branching network of roots underground. These branching patterns act as efficient conduits through which water and nutrients flow ensuring survival. Sometimes environmental pressures such as light availability or wind direction can cause stunning modifications to these branching patterns.
